The terms below are to provided to help you understand and enjoy the game of
baccarat better, there may be terms we have overlooked however, feel free to contact us with any known omissions or corrections you may like to contribute.
This commonly refers to the edge (
house edge) a casino has over a player on a given bet.
1) The worst hand a player can have in Baccarat, a total of zero. 2) Also the name of the game which is derived from the Italian word baccara, meaning zero.
1) The Banker. 2) A term used by a
player whose choice is to fade the entire bank bet in
chemin de fer.
A term used when more than one player is calling
banco and refers to the privilege of a player to the bank's right to fade the entire bank bet in
chemin de fer.
The game is a variation of
chemin de fer (which is played in European casinos), three hands are dealt to the
player. Also referred to as
deux tableau.
An option on the table layout in which the customer can bet, does not refer to
casino (house) itself.

A slang term short for chemin de fer.
A term for tokens issued by the casino used instead for money.
A french term which means "
railway" which is another name used by
players, you cannot bet on Player or Bank, (Punto or Banco) you must bet on one or the other. The casino does not have any direct involvement in the bets placed as players
wager amongst themselves.
A 5% charge imposed on all winning bank bets.
A term (also known as
fade) that is used when a customer chooses to cover all or part of the bank bet.
A french term for the english word
dealer.
A casino term for the employees that staff the games tables at the casino.
The dealer is a casino employee that handles all bets and transactions on behalf of the
player, also know as a
croupier.
The game is a variation of

If a players initial hand has a total of 8 or 9 this is referred to as a natural. In French the term for a 9 is La Grande and an 8 is La Petite.
A variation of
baccarat that is played in the U.S., Australia and Canada, also known as
Punto Banco, players may bet on the player or the banker.
Refers to the probability of an event (in
baccarat the outcome of a bet on the layout options, 'Player', 'Banker' or 'Tie'.
